Office of the Mayor

The Mayor is the only member of the governing body elected at large by the entire city. The Mayor presides over City Council meetings, serves as a spokesperson and ambassador for the community, promotes communication among elected officials, and participates in Council deliberations concerning city goals and policies.

With the City Council’s approval, the Mayor appoints the city manager, municipal judge, members filling vacant City Council seats, and advisory board members. The Mayor also issues proclamations and represents the city in intergovernmental relations.
